Directive 8570.1 Simplified
The U.S. Department of Defense established Directive
8570.1: Information Assurance Training, Certification
and Workforce Management. The directive requires that
any privileged positions held in the DoD must be filled
with personnel who have been trained and certified in
order to be qualified for the positions they currently
hold.
Improve the Speed and Quality of Your IAT and IAM
Training
As new people are assigned and new technology is
implemented, your objective is to bring your people
up-to-speed, both quickly and under budget. Extended
training costs can chip away at the smooth execution of your
operation. Poor performance, re-training, and downtime cut
into your costs and time for training. And ultimately, if
they’re not certified they will not be authorized to hold
their current positions.
New Information Assurance Policy: Are you Compliant?
DoD Directive 8570.1 provides the basis for an
enterprise-wide solution to train, certify, and manage the
DoD Information Assurance (IA) workforce. The policy
requires Information Assurance technicians and managers to
be trained and certified to a DoD baseline requirement. The
Directive’s accompanying grid identifies the specific
certifications mandated by the Directive’s enterprise-wide
certification program.
